Mary MacGregor﹝1948~﹞原本是【彼得、保羅、瑪麗三重唱】 ﹝Peter、Paul & Mary 簡稱 ”PPM”﹞的「和聲歌手」。該樂團為1970~80年代極活躍之重唱團體。
”PPM”的靈魂人物 Peter Yarrow.彼得雅路﹝圖左﹞於1976年從俄國著名小說《齊瓦哥醫生》﹝Doctor Zhivago﹞三角戀情的情節，得到了靈感，寫了這首" Torn Between Two Lovers "
Peter Yarrow 並未將此曲交給當紅歌者演唱，而是交給自家樂團的和聲歌手、當時沒沒無聞的~Mary MacGregor.瑪麗麥奎格 來演唱，出奇地動聽而盛傳，很快就獲得告示牌排行榜雙週冠軍。
